Massie Residence – Wine Cellar
Frisco, Texas
This project involved converting an existing under-stair closet into a 500 bottle wine cellar. Although, the space is not conditioned, the cellar was constructed to be easily adapted. The walls were spray insulated, and all required services, wiring, and plumbing needed to convert it into a conditioned wine cellar were installed. Only the purchase of insulated doors and A/C equipment is required.
The design of the cellar was based on the vernacular of the New Orleans French Quarter. The client wanted the cellar to be able to respond to several moods and settings. So, we incorporated multiple light sources – including backlit lower cabinets – controlled by multiple dimmer switches to give the client the ability to adjust how the space is experienced.
